I feel like Chicken Tonight

I have really been craving Babe’s Chicken Dinner House all day. We got a Frisco magazine in the mail yesterday and to my surprise it said a new location was open in Frisco. My family has been going to the original in Roanoke for as long as I can remember, so it’s kind of like a childhood memory for me. I never get the chicken though, always the chicken fried steak. Oh, and I don’t even like that from anywhere else. This stuff is no joke. I also love their potatoes and corn. My mouth is watering over here.

All day I think that D and I are going to head over for dinner, and we found out it doesn’t open until July 14 (though other places on the Internet say the 13th, and others say the 15th). I guess I’ll have to wait to get my fix.

Someone on a message board said, “There does seem to be something in the water for some people when they talk about this place…almost like ex-Californians talking about In-n-Out.” That cracked me up because it is so true, and I fall into both categories!

I wouldn’t say that I am a girl that is proud of my naturally curly hair. It’s okay, don’t get me wrong, but there are days when I’d love to shave it all off and start over. Most days I prefer to CHI it out straight, but that leads to tons of damage and takes more time than I’d care to admit. I like my sleep, and I’d much rather enjoy the extra zzz’s than be up at the crack of dawn with a blow dryer and extreme heat. Nothing peeves me off more than spending all that time on my hair only to have it ruined by rain or humidity. Is it a ponytail day? Maybe a hat? Now I have the answer.

I discovered NaturallyCurly.com, and their Frizz Forecast. All I have to do is log in every morning to discover my city’s daily humidity index. Pretty cool, right? Don’t forget though, I live in Texas. It’s the summer. Most days are going to be hell on earth for practically the next three months. Still, I can hope and pray for a few good hair days, right?

Corrin blogged about this company, Letter Perspectives, that puts together photos of letters found in nature (or elsewhere) and spells out your name (or anything else you want). I love the idea. It’s a little pricey, around $160, but I’ve spent more for pieces at Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel. I think this would make a fabulous addition to our living room, so I wanted to save it here for when I have some extra cash.

Happy Birthday, Brownie!

Today five years ago, our little bundle of brown joy was born (along with his five brothers and sisters). Time certainly flies. Peanut was five when they were born. We were planning on having a party at Every Dog’s Day, but it hasn’t come together yet. I’m thinking I will just take him this weekend for a treatment and a goody from the bakery since LeAnn and I can’t seem to coordinate our schedules.

Tonight Dave and I are stopping by Sonic to pick up a burger patty for him, and tomorrow we’re going to take him to PetSmart for his yearly birthday outting. We already bought him a bunch of treats, a new automatic water dish, and a new food dish. I also bought him a Coach leash to match his colar. What can I say… he’s spoiled, and we like it that way.

Ever had Nail Withdrawl?

Dave and I haven’t done a while lot this weekend. I have been sick since last weekend, and was out from work since Tuesday. Would it be crazy for me to admit that I am so ready to go back? Sleeping until 10:00 or 11:00 AM is great, but it’s not fun having to lay around on the couch and watch lame TV all day knowing your co-workers are having to pick up your slack. I was well enough to go back on Friday, but it was nice to have the extra day for myself. Thanks, Angela!

After checking in on work stuff on the laptop, I went out for a bit and had my first manicure in seven years. I can’t believe I’ve had Solar Nails for that many years. I had them taken off (well, I grew/buffed them off) starting in December. For a very brief time five years ago I had them soaked/pulled off. That ruined me for life. It was very painful. I still remember. I had them put back on again when Dave and I were engaged shortly after and they’ve been on since. It’s been over six months now and honestly, they are still pretty weak. I wonder if they will ever be strong again. Part of the reason I wanted to get rid of them is the time spent at the salon getting them filled. I would seriously dread having to make the appointment to sit there for over an hour. By the time I would actually do it, they’d look horrible too. Sometimes they wouldn’t do a very good job on them either, and I’d be mad at myself for spending $50 (or more after I got a pedicure too). Money was the other positive reason to leave them off.

I’ve hated having them off too. If I have to spend the time painting them myself at home (which I am also pretty good at), I get angry when they chip a day or two after. That’s the great thing about solars. They would hardly ever break, never turn yellow, and I could go almost a month (3 weeks) without doing anything. I’m pretty much selling myself on them, huh? It’s been two days since my manicure, and sadly there are already a few chips in my once perfect nails. You just can’t win.

I can’t say when I’m going to go back to getting them done solar-style, but I have the feeling I’m not going to be able to take it like this much longer. At least I tried. Does anyone else have any advice for kicking the habit for good?

I know it goes without saying, but I need the Timmy Woods Eiffel Tower handbag Sarah Jessica Parker carries in one of the opening scenes of the new Sex and the City movie. That version is only $3000, and is covered in over 6,300 Swarovski Crystals! Hell, I’d settle for the $450 version without the crystals. Isn’t it beautiful?! I don’t know where I would carry it, but it would definitely look fabulous in my bedroom. Maybe in a shadow box? What do you guys think?

Baby Fever

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie must be baby crazy. I just saw an ad (yeah, I’m up late watching trash TV) for OK Magazine saying that the couple is adopting an African boy to celebrate the birth of their twins. SERIOUSLY?! I am pretty sure having another child would be the last thing on my mind right before giving birth, as wonderful as I think adoption is. They are certainly going to have a Full House and will be very busy with three new children. I just wonder how hard it’s going to be with seven very small children. How does it work when either of them are working on a movie?

Also Jaime Lynn Spears (17!) finally gave birth to her baby girl, Maddie Briann. Wanna take bets on how long it will be until Brit has another?

Who is The Mole?

The Mole, hosted by Anderson Copper back in the day, was one of my favorite shows. It disappeared mid-season quite a few years ago (4?), but now it’s back (without the Coop). I’ve been watching, and I have to put it out there that I think Paul is The Mole. I’ve thought it from the first episode, so I have to document it here. Seriously, I hope he’s not though. He is annoying as hell and I hope he goes next week. Picking fights with people for no reason? Come on! Does he ever shut up?! Have a differing opinion? This season is not as good as the ones in the past, and I know ratings are not so great. Hopefully it will make it to another season, and they will do a better job casting more interesting (less annoying) people. Anyone else watch it?

Sick (of being sick)

I’ve been a shut-in for several days. I want to say that I haven’t been THIS sick in years, but I was pretty sick the day after Thanksgiving last November too. You name a symptom and I have it… all of them. I’ll spare you the horrible (and disgusting) details. Trust me, you’ll thank me.

I’m sitting here trying to catch up on work. I slept all day yesterday, and laid around watching a Top Chef marathon most of today once the power came back on. I should be ready to go back to work tomorrow, but when I called my boss she said not to come back until Monday. I could really use the rest, but I feel incredibly guilty. I am still sniffing, coughing and sneezing, but most of the other (grosser) symptoms are gone (thank goodness).

I’ve been doing work-related stuff since around 2:00 PM today, and am taking a break now. Just wanted to let you all know that I am alive even though I rarely seem to update lately anyway.
