Halloween at the Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze

By Laurie | October 30, 2010

Dave and I have been a little lazy and put off picking out our pumpkin this year. We never have cash when we pass the Pumpkin Patches in our area. Yesterday I saw a post on Facebook from Dwan about a local Corn Maze she went to, and I thought that looked like a lot of fun. Even better, they also had pumpkins for sale and a hayride at night. Best of all? It is in my hometown of Grapevine, Texas.

Hall’s Pumpkin Farm is about 45 minutes away from where we live now, so we made the trip out this afternoon. It was the perfect day for it!

The entrance was a gravel road, and we had to park in the grass. They were really busy and families everywhere were enjoying the roasted corn, kettle corn, apple cider and more.

We paid $5 each to walk in the maze. There were a ton of people there, but I have to admit it was still pretty difficult to find the exit. We hit several dead ends and wandered around for quite awhile before finding the exit.

I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for something fun to do. The website says you can bring a flashlight and give it a try at night too. I can’t even imagine how hard to navigate it would be in the pitch dark!

We took a second for a self portrait inside the maze. There were a lot of photo opportunities on the property. Definitely good if you have kiddos. Just sayin’.

After the maze, we went to the pumpkin patch and began searching for the perfect pumpkin. After a little searching, we decided on this guy. It looks yummy, right?

What’s visiting a pumpkin patch without the obligatory scarecrow photo?

We haven’t decided what we are going to carve on it yet, but I am looking forward to baking some pumpkin seeds tomorrow. I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween/Dave’s Birthday!

  1. It was gorgeous out today! We ended up buying our pumpkins at Walmart because apparently Austin considers dumping a semi of pumpkins on the front lawn of a church to be a “pumpkin patch.” It’s the first time I’ve missed Chicago all year. :-)

  2. Fun times! Did you ever get out to FM’s patch when y’all lived over here? We might have to visit Grapevine’s next year – the corn maze sounds neat!
