#Mamavation Monday
By Laurie | June 28, 2010
Happy Monday! My successes last week are:
* Made breakfast and dinner at home 4/5 days Monday-Friday.
* Increased my water intake Monday-Friday (Thank, Kim).
* Didn’t step on the scale a single time.
You’re probably asking yourself why not stepping on a scale is considered a success for me. Well… I have been known to be a little obsessive about that little big number. When I work really hard I want to see results, and when the numbers don’t change I get discouraged and want to quit. I think it really helps me to not see the number every single day or even every week. I feel better about the changes that I make when I don’t have that pressure of that number hanging over my head. Does anyone else feel the same way? Does anyone have any tips to get past that?
This week the training schedule for the Komen 3-Day picks up. It’s still nearly 100 degrees here daily, so it is definitely a challenge getting in miles considering I do not have/cannot afford a gym membership right now. We also do not have any home gym equipment anymore (other than the WiiFit), so I can’t just hop on a treadmill in the comfort of my own home. I have been trying to take walks at 8:30 PM when the sun goes down. I plan on trying to get in a few more than I have been this week.
Here is the training schedule for week 19:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 3 miles
Wednesday: 15 min cross training
Thursday: 5 miles
Friday: 30 min cross training
Saturday: 7 miles
Sunday: 6 miles
Total weekly milage: 21 miles
It’s good that is is a workout rest day because tonight I am going to see Eclipse at a press screening. I will also miss the show tonight, but LingerieDOTcom is sponoring both the blogging carnival and show this week and are giving away a $45 shopping spree. I have to admit I haven’t checked out their site yet, and it is actually blocked at work due to adult/mature content. That must mean they have some good stuff. No doubt I’d be able to choose something if I were to win.
I hope everyone has a good week, and good luck to all the Sistas who have put in an application. I will be by to see all the new videos posted this week and support your posts (I will just be a little later than usual). Also congratulations to Jessica for being named the Sista of the week!

Way to go on increasing the water!! Isn’t Kim just awesome at encouraging us to do that??
Have an awesome week!!!
Posted by: Scarlett BlackThanks for a great post! I’m working on upping water too. Now it’s time to work out. See you tonight!
Posted by: jennydeciAwww babe, dont’ get discouraged!
You rock, and you’re doing great! We’re here for you!
Just a suggestion.. do you have a local mall? I know some people don’t, and it’s hard, but try doing some mall walking. They open them up fairly early before stores even open, and that’s a great time to go walk walk walk..
I’m assuming you’re walking? If not (and you’re running), then I dont have any other suggestions!!
Have a fantabulous week, babe!
Posted by: Lisa @ljenatorI have such huge respect for all the ladies doing the 3 day! Had there been one closer to me, I would be doing it too!
I agree with the mall tip, I just looked at ours (7 miles away) and it opens at 6:30am for walkers! And it’s a/c’d and kept about 65 year round! Woo hoo! It’s worth looking into!
Posted by: MandiGreat job on you successes last week! Heres to a great week this week too!! Good luck getting your 21 miles in this week. I know you can do it!
Posted by: ShannonAwesome job this week!
Posted by: Lori @ My Kinda RainI got past the scales by getting rid of them. I do not have scales in my house, I can only weigh in at the gym or the doctor. Ha! Also I measure my hips, abdomen, thigh, etc to have another way to track my success. It’s frustrating relying on JUST the scales. It sounds like you’re on the right track and heading in the right direction. Never give up!
Posted by: AngelaI think it’s great that you are committed to such a wonderful event. Great job this week on your planning, workouts, etc.
Posted by: LauraYou’re not alone on the gym thing! I live in a small town & the price is significantly overpriced! It’s not within my reach at this time – we just got to make do with what we can!

Posted by: lovelyritaannI tend to be obsessive about the scale as well — I’m on it MULTIPLE times through out the day. Why? It’s CrAzY!!!!
Good for YOU on ignoring the scale this week; I so need to take a chapter out of your book.
(and, KUDOS on the running outside . . . no WAY I would do that. Ugh, it makes me sweat just thinking about it)
Posted by: Rachel -- Following In My ShoesThat’s a lot of miles! I am impressed!
Posted by: RoxyYou crack me up, I can’t wait for that giveaway. I am motivated by you BTW!!
I have been a follower (twitter & GFC) of your blog for awhile. I just started a blog myself! I would love it if you followed me back! – Karissa
Posted by: karissaHi fellow Texan!!
So nice to bloggy meet you! I followed from Mamavation on Twitter. You know, I could REALLY use that! I have a wedding in 3mos and I’m 50lbs too heavy and too depressed to go dress shopping! UG!
I love what you are doing here with the miles. I love running/walking but not so much here in the summer. I’ve been biking lately.
I hope to get uber motivated in the next 3 mos.
Thanks for the follow back!
