Mamavation Monday
By Laurie | June 13, 2010
I’ve taken a little hiatus from Mamavation Monday. Honestly? I fell off the wagon. Also? I was a little disappointed that I spent so much time commenting on all of the other posts and only received two on my last one (Leah being one of them). I know that quitting only hurts myself though (and I shouldn’t feel that way), so I am going to try to get it together this week. Plus the mentions on Twitter about looking forward to my next post are starting to bother me (Thanks, Leah and Lori!), so I guess that’s a hint that I need to write a post to avoid them?
I didn’t follow any diet plan this week, but I did participate in the Race for the Cure on Saturday and got in some mileage. If you’re interested in how that went you can check out my post below this one or check out my other blog.
This coming week I am going to start getting my water intake back up. Kim is really good about sending reminders on Twitter during the day which really helps me when I take a break at work to catch up. I mostly lurk on there during my lunch break via my phone, because the Internet is on strict lock down at work due to security. Plus my days are pretty busy. It helps to see the reminders though. Also I was reading Coach Jenny’s blog and she gave a tip about setting a timer on your watch or computer every 30 minutes, and suggests getting up and walking around during that time to get some activity in and boost your metabolism. I think running to the kitchen to fill my bottle each time might be a good idea too.
Training for the 3-Day is also in full swing. It is 21 weeks until my event in November, so here is what I will be doing this week:
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 0 min cross train
Wednesday: easy 3 miles
Thursday: moderate 4 miles
Friday: 30 minute cross training
Saturday: easy 5 miles
Sunday: easy 4 miles
By the end of the week I will have walked 16 miles. I will probably change my days around a little and do some walking at the beginning of the week because on Saturday we will doing a fundraiser and I would like to have it out of the way.
Other than that, I don’t have a lot going on. I hope everyone has a good week!

Hi there. I am fairly new to #Mamavation. I think your training plan is awesome … that coupled with your water intake you are SURE to see a weightloss/inches loss this coming week!
Keep up the great work !:)
Posted by: RachelAs long as you continue writing post you’ll see some comments from me
I know how that can feel though. It looks like your goals are great! I’ll send you as many twitter shout outs as you need to get through this!! Just let me know!:) Lastly, Congrats on all your success with the race for the cure!!
Posted by: ShannonHi..it can be hard when you feel you are not getting the support you want or need, know it firsthand, stick in there…the support does come. {{HUGS}}
Posted by: Trish @IamSucceedingLike Rachel, I am new to Mamavation. It looks as though you have a great plan in place to help you reach your goals. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Posted by: LauraThe 30 minute timer is a good idea, I could easily do that too and go refill my water, or do a flight of stairs. Thanks for that!
Posted by: MandiI am so sorry that I didn’t comment on your last post.
Now that the bootcamp is over, I’ve made it a goal to hit every post every Monday. . . .you DEFINITELY will have my support (both here and on Twitter).
I’m so glad you’re back.
p.s. If it makes you feel better, I normally don’t get very many comments on my blog . . . it can be disheartening, even though I TRY to remind myself that I don’t write for comments. Sigh.
Posted by: Rachel -- Following In My ShoesThe 30 minute timer is a GREAT idea. You know what I use? An oven timer. Sometimes I use it to limit the time I’m at my computer.
I’m pretty new to mamavation, but I can relate to not receiving very many comments. I have a hard time fitting into online communities. I’m encouraged by your post, because, once again, I’m reminded that I am not alone in my thoughts or my feelings.
Falling off the wagon is only failure if you refuse to get back on!
Posted by: Roxyhead up girl. we all fall off the wagon..we just have to pick ourselves up and keep on moving! You can do this!
Posted by: Lori @ My Kinda RainWelcome back!! I can’t wait to get to know you, I am not sure if you were here when I first joined or not it has been less than 2 months and I am still getting to know who is who. I feel the same way you did, I feel like a nobody and no one will miss me if I skip, but you are right that frame of mind is only hurting you. You are giving yourself permission to quit and quitting isn’t an option. I hope your 3-day training goes well. I love the timer idea too, I might be stealing that one for myself.
Posted by: Julie MI’m working on getting up my water intake also. And yes it can be dishearting when you dont get comments, but don’t give up. We are all here for you. I’ve been slacking on getting to the comments too, but one goal I have is to get better. *hugs* have a great week with your training.
Posted by: Katie@sailorsprincessI’m sorry if I somehow skipped your post last week! I usualy comment on everyone’s!
I understand faling off the wagon. We can both climb back up together this week!!!!
Have a great week
Posted by: Scarlett BlackI think we’ve all felt a little down about minimal comments on our blog. I’m fairly certain the only blog posts of mine that are read are the Mamavation ones…but it’s ok. Building a following for a blog takes time. That said, that doesn’t let the rest of us off the hook for not commenting! I’m so sorry.
And remember…even if only two people comment on a post, that’s still TWO WHOLE PEOPLE supporting you. I’ll take two over zero any day!
Posted by: CJ @CJinKYGreat job on the mileage, you will be ready for the 3-day with no problem. Just be cautious if you are doing it for weight loss and don’t see it melting off, you’ll need to do something more intense and less time consuming like intervals.
I know what you mean by commenting on post and it not being reciprocated (happens every week to me, but you learn not to comment and expect words in return). Glad to have you back.
Posted by: kiaHey Laurie, I finally made it to comment on Monday’s posts. Wow! What an ambitious schedule. Good luck and keep up the good work!
