SummerFest 2009
By Laurie | July 7, 2009
I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July! I know I’m late with my post, but I’ve been busier than usual and haven’t been spending quite as much time online.

We don’t have a backyard or indoor grill (hint, hint) and we’re not really outside people either (especially in the 100 degree Texas heat), so we went to the Gaylord Texan’s SummerFest on the 4th with Nikki and Craig and ate at the Riverwalk CafĂ©.

Apparently a lot of other people had the same idea, because it was pretty crowded in the hotel. They had a patriotic train set up nearby, so we posed in front of it. Dave pretended to be a conductor. Toot! Toot!

We did have to wait an hour or more to get in the restaurant, but the atmosphere and company were good even though we were starving by the time we sat down. It’s also always nice to visit the place where we had our wedding reception. Our 5th anniversary is coming up in September (if you can believe it), so we will be going back soon for our annual Murder Mystery Dinner.

By the time we finished eating, we could hear the fireworks at Lake Grapevine starting. We had parked at the top of the parking garage so that we could tailgate to watch, but we didn’t quite make it back to the car before the finale. At that point we were stuffed and ready to head home anyway. Dave and I caught the very end of the fireworks in Frisco the night before, so I got my yearly fix. There’s always next year.

Stacey- I got it at Lane Bryant (otherwise known as “the fat girl store” according to my friend Jodie) about a year ago for $9.99. I try really hard to not shop there mostly because I don’t want to admit that I can fit into clothes there. Even so, I could not resist the price not to mention I thought it was pretty darn cute too. The sweater is from GAP.
Posted by: LaurieCindi- We’d gladly take some of your rain! Send it our way!
Posted by: LaurieWow.. Nice event you have there…
Posted by: AdisonOur Summer Fest here in Paga was celebrated last March 2009.
It’s one of my most memorable experience cos we had a beach party together with the youth foundation.
I just love the way you dress! I want to raid your closet!!! Even when you’re “dressed down” you look fantastic!
Posted by: JillJill- Thanks! That is so sweet. If you ever come here, I will gladly send you home with some goodies from my closet. I went shopping for some new work clothes yesterday and was saying that I intended to clean my closet out again this weekend.
Posted by: LaurieI’ll pay for the shipping if you clean that closet and want to send stuff my way!!!
Posted by: JillI will let you know if I decide not to be lazy and do it, and also if I find anything worthwhile to send!
Posted by: LaurieWe have a Gaylord Palms here in Central Florida, and I love it! It’s an amazing property, and they always have some really great events happening…like “Ice” every Winter.
Posted by: Ashley K. EdwardsAshley- we absolutely love the Gaylord. It’s a special place for us. They have an ICE event here too. Those giant jackets totally crack me up. Of course Dave refuses to wear them.
