Twinkle Twinkle Little Star x 56?!

I was watching the Today Show this morning, and saw the story of Kimberley Vlaeminck, an 18-year old from Belgium. In the press she is being called a “teen” and while 18 technically has the word teen in it, isn’t she really an adult? She claims that she went into the tattoo shop to get three stars inked on her face, fell asleep, and woke up with 56 instead! Is she for real?

If you are old enough to drink (I think legal age there is 18 there for hard liquor, 16 for beer and wine), you need to be responsible enough to know better than to stumble in and ask for tattoos ON YOUR FACE. They didn’t mention in the story that she had been drinking, so that is only an assumption on my part. Who falls asleep while getting a tattoo anyway? Granted I think if she was drunk the artist had no business going through with the request, but I also believe she needs to take ownership of her mistake. She is suing for around $15,000 which is slightly more than it will cost to have the majority of them removed.

  2. That’s quite a constellation – looks like the tattoo artist got carried away. If I was going to have someone sticking needles in my face I’d rather sleep through it, though I doubt I would be able to.

  3. The story I heard was that is EXACTLY what she asked for then she got home and her boyfriend and dad FLIPPED out, so she made up this story. Either way she’s an idiot.

  4. Sounds like she is trying to cover up her HUGE mistake! Why would she want to tattoo anything (except eyeliner or eyebrows) on her face anyway!?

  6. Thanks Lindy, you too! She said that she woke up from pain when he started doing the one on her nose. If that was you, wouldn’t you jump up and yell STOP? Wouldn’t you know that you didn’t ask for a tattoo ON YOUR NOSE? It looks like there is one on her ear too. It seems absolutely unbelievable that she wouldn’t know it was happening. And they are all complete, so it doesn’t look like she argued about it at the time. Crazy.

  8. It’s impossible to fall asleep when having a tattoo done anywhere you can hear the needle buzzing… if you’ve ever heard one of those you would know. 2nd the pain of a tattoo although not extreme is still pain… and there’s no way that someone would be able to sleep through that!!!

    Plus, they’re also reporting that she didn’t have a problem with it when she walked out. Only when her father saw what was done. No one “accidently” gets 56 tattoos on their face. It’s such a crock.

    You’re right about the drinking age in Belgium though. But no respectable tattoo artist would ever tattoo someone drunk.

  9. I heard about this on the news while drving to work in Dallas this morning. How in the world could anyone “sleep” through 56 tatoos? Impossible – unless it was a “passed out” self induced coma. If that was the case, the tattoo artist should take responsibility. Crazy people!

  11. Ashley, I definitely didn’t picture you as a tattoo kind of guy. I REALLY can’t picture you with 56 stars plastered all over your face! I have seen a lot worse tattoos than this, so in a way she is lucky.
