I am hanging in there
By Laurie | April 2, 2009
| The week has gone by quickly. I am big on anniversaries, so I would be amiss if I did not mention that tomorrow will be two months since my layoff. I have to admit that I definitely thought I would be back to work by now, but I am still not getting discouraged and am keeping very busy. I had two interviews last week, but this week has been quiet on that front. People constantly are asking how I am doing. Truly, I am doing great and making the most of my new found time off. | ![]() |
Today I worked primarily on my Race for the Cure fundraiser that will take place two weeks from today. I am very excited and hope to have a very good turnout. My fabulous husband helped me out with an awesome flyer that I am using to locally promote the event. This afternoon I met with the manager of the On the Border where the event will take place. If you know me, you know it is one of my favorite places on the planet. I could eat a sizzling fajita salad every single day and never get tired of it. This location (121 & Custer) is wanting to help out different charities and causes each month which I think is an awesome thing. It is really cool to see how enthusiastic people are about helping others. There should be more people (and businesses) like that out there.
In addition to a percentage of the proceeds, he mentioned donating a few gift cards for the raffle and is trying to get some other things for my swag bags. Trust me, if you are local and free on April 16, you are going to want to be there and get one! I also got a good response (I think) from another of my favorite companies when asking for a donation for my swag bags. It does seem like not very much time to plan and promote an event, but I hope to have a good turnout.
Tomorrow I am going to meet a fellow blogger for a Cajun lunch. I am excited. It will be a nice relaxing end to what I think has been a busy, but fun and productive week.
What does everyone else have planned for the weekend?

Wow – I can’t believe it’s been 2 months! Your event is going to be awesome, and a donation is on the way!

Posted by: corrinI’m glad you’re doing well! Keep hanging in there. I need to hang in there too. In the meantime, it’s good that you’re making the most of your time off. I’ll be learning how to do that too. Just like you, because I don’t have to go to work, I’ve been able to meet people for breakfast, volunteer, and do errands during the day. I would agree, it’s kind of nice.
Posted by: AkirahCorrin- I can’t either! It has really been a very fast two months. I am so ready to get back on a “normal” working schedule. I miss having a purpose, if that makes sense.
Posted by: LaurieAkirah- you are still in the beginning stages. It takes time, and there will be good days and bad days. I know you are going to be just fine. There are so many of us in the same position, and it is nice to have so much support. *hugs*
