Don’t Just Give a Gift, Grant a Wish

By Laurie | December 16, 2008

This post is sponsored by Sears via IZEA, but the experience and opinions are my own.

Who doesn’t love shopping for gifts? If you know me, you know I never need an excuse, that’s for sure. Sears provided me with $100 gift card to Grant A Wish for myself, my loved ones, or a charity. When I heard about their “Don’t Just Give a Gift, Grant a Wish” program, I knew exactly how I wanted to spend my gift card.

When I was in high school and college, my mom and I would adopt an “Angel” from the Salvation Army Angel Tree, which provides new clothing and/or toys for needy children at Christmas. I have tried to keep the tradition alive since moving out on my own too. My friend Nikki and I had our annual girl’s Christmas shopping trip planned for Saturday, so she tagged along with me to Sears to grant the wishes of a local 10-year old girl. I do not have any kiddos of my own, so it is always a treat to shop for someone else’s.
High School Musical is so popular with girls that age, and Sears had tons of fabulous items. There was everything from toys, clothing, bedding, accessories and more. We had a hard time choosing because there was such a huge selection. We ended up with a Sharpay play set with lots of extras that we were sure she is going to love. We also got a pink High School Musical t-shirt, an awesome back pack, I love Troy socks, a cozy fleece throw, and some winter gloves. A lot of the items were 40% off, so we were really able to make the most of the money. We had a great time, and once we dropped off the gifts I was really feeling the magic of Christmas for the first time this year.

Here are some more photos from our trip:

Every girl needs Troy on her socks!

Nikki monkeys around with Bobby Jack.

I got two big bags of stuff for my Angel with the gift card!

Now that you’ve seen all the fun Nikki and I had shopping, would you like to Grant a Wish of your own?

IZEA has provided me with another $100 Sears gift card to give away to one of my readers. Know someone that needs some new tools? An iPod? Bedding? Clothes? Decorations for the house? Sears has it all. There are three ways to enter:

1. Leave a comment with the Sears Item #s you would buy with your card (up to $100). You can go to Sears.com to research the Item #s.

2. Use Twitter to tweet the following message:
RT @laurie_pooh Please grant my wish to win a $100 #Sears gift card – tweet to make your own wish http://urlbrief.com/ad78d7

3. Create a blog post about the contest and link this post. Be sure to leave a comment with the URL to your post.

Contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on December 23, 2008. Check out the Grant A Wish Gift Card Giveaway! Contest Official Rules for more information. My fellow IZEA Insiders are also giving away a $100 gift card, so please visit their giveaways too: Kat, Drew, Brett, Elizabeth, Corrin, Lisa, Steven, Heather, and Julie.

  14. If I am the lucky winner of the gift card, I’d like to buy a couple of sets of Lands’ End 400 TC Supima No-iron Sheet Sets (item # 09655826004), they’re under $40 each, so my husband and I could each have a set. We have only one set of really nice sheets that we got at an outlet store, because we normally can’t afford anything that nice. I thought the whole thread count thing was overrated until we got those sheets. It does make a difference!
