Don’t Just Give a Gift, Grant a Wish

Who doesn’t love shopping for gifts? If you know me, you know I never need an excuse, that’s for sure. Sears provided me with $100 gift card to Grant A Wish for myself, my loved ones, or a charity. When I heard about their “Don’t Just Give a Gift, Grant a Wish” program, I knew exactly how I wanted to spend my gift card.

When I was in high school and college, my mom and I would adopt an “Angel” from the Salvation Army Angel Tree, which provides new clothing and/or toys for needy children at Christmas. I have tried to keep the tradition alive since moving out on my own too. My friend Nikki and I had our annual girl’s Christmas shopping trip planned for Saturday, so she tagged along with me to Sears to grant the wishes of a local 10-year old girl. I do not have any kiddos of my own, so it is always a treat to shop for someone else’s. |
| High School Musical is so popular with girls that age, and Sears had tons of fabulous items. There was everything from toys, clothing, bedding, accessories and more. We had a hard time choosing because there was such a huge selection. We ended up with a Sharpay play set with lots of extras that we were sure she is going to love. We also got a pink High School Musical t-shirt, an awesome back pack, I love Troy socks, a cozy fleece throw, and some winter gloves. A lot of the items were 40% off, so we were really able to make the most of the money. We had a great time, and once we dropped off the gifts I was really feeling the magic of Christmas for the first time this year. |  |

If I won the Sears gift card I would have to use it for our house! We have really poured a ton of money into our house over the past year (you know that because you ready my blog and have seen all the home improvements we’ve done)!
We moved in the house with the existing dishwasher and stove! They work but not very well! The oven burns whatever it is that I put in there! =( So I have to kick it down about 25-50 degrees! It’s horrible! The stove top still works and that is what I use the most – so I’m okay there!!! The main thing we want to replace is our dishwasher! It’s totally old and not efficient what-so-ever! It doesn’t clean the dishes very well! It makes the most horrible sound buzz in between cycles (is this old school or is it just broken and trying to tell us it wants to stop on us)! The dishwasher melted my tea pitcher the other day! I’m so done with it! We really need a new one in a bad way!!!!

We have only one set of really nice sheets that we got at an outlet store, because we normally can’t afford anything that nice.
