Access Denied!

D and I went to an orientation at the hospital where I am going to have my tonsil ripped out of the back of my throat next week. Other than my thyroid issues and having my gallbladder out last year, I’ve never been really sick in my life. I haven’t had to spend a whole lot of time in any hospital, and I haven’t really known anyone that has.
Still, it’s kind of scary. I’ll be in the same place where my gallbladder was removed, but for some odd reason I have to stay overnight for this? It doesn’t really make sense to me since I would think gallbladder removal is much more serious that tonsils. But what do I know? |
I’m not looking forward to it, and I’m scared to death of anesthesia. I’ve also been reading tonsil removal horror stories online, which probably wasn’t the best idea in the world. A lot of folks have eased my mind though, and have told me it’s really not all that bad even though you do have to sit around and not eat for a week. That’s okay… I can do that.
Anyway, the hospital is really nice. All patients get their own rooms with flat screen TVs and couches that pull out into beds for guests. That means that D is going to stay with me so I don’t have to be alone. Knowing that is making me feel better too. The weird thing? There is a camera mounted to the wall across from the bed. When I check in, they are going to give me a code which will give people access to view me via webcam. Seriously? I’m guarding that code with my life? Besides, who really wants to see me laying in misery in the hospital on the Internet? Craziness. Nobody will be getting access to that. Heh. You’re welcome.
My throat already hurts. I wonder if it knows what’s coming. I’ll keep you all updated.

Posted by: Joey LoganoI hope all goes well with your surgery, Laurie. I had my tonsils removed as an adult and everything went perfectly. I tell ya…the liquid pain killer they gave me was a life saver!!
