60 Miles or BUST! It’s finally here!

By Laurie | November 6, 2008

With only one more day until the Breast Cancer 3-Day, I am busy washing my clothes, packing my bag, and buying any last minute items we may have forgotten. It’s hard to believe that it’s here already. I know we have been fundraising and training since February, but it’s funny how unprepared we feel now that it is actually here.

I just wanted to put out the SUPPORTER GUIDE page one more time. There you can find out the directions to opening and closing ceremonies as well as the Cheering Stations we will pass through each of the three days. There is also a special webcam setup at camp where we can go and wave to you.

I will also be sending messages to Twitter, and posting pictures to Facebook from my Blackberry. Be sure to add me so that you can follow us real time. Don’t worry if you don’t, once we get back on our feet (we’ll both be taking Monday off), we will be posting all of our photos here and at http://our3day.com.

Thanks again to everyone who supported us and donated to our cause. Together Nikki and I raised over $6000, and with the addition of our four new team members late in the training process, our team total is over $15,000. I am very proud of all of us, and no doubt will feel even more accomplished after walking 60 miles.

Until my next post, keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We will be thinking about all of our donors and loved ones who we are making this journey for.

  1. My grand grandma died of cancer (not a breast cancer, but still). I do believe that such people as you and your team can help people who suffer from cancer, make people aware, give them if not a cure but at least hope…
    God bless You…

  9. Lori- I’m sorry that we didn’t get to meet. It’s hard with so many people. Next time we can make arrangement ahead of time to meet up and say hello. I hope you had an incredible experience like we did. I have posted a few pictures that my teammate took (mine will go up soon too), so come back and visit me soon!

  11. Thank you Georgie! Your dad’s story breaks my heart. I agree with you– we need to cure ALL cancer. I believe that some of the advances that come with research money will help find a cure to many different kinds of cancer. We just have to keep on raising the money that allows the job to get done. *hugs* Thanks for the encouragement.
