Looking for your Prince Charming?

By Laurie | October 31, 2008

Have you kissed one too many toads in your search for Mr. Right? I’ve heard my single friends mention that meeting people is hard to do these days. I know quite a few people who met their significant others online, and quite frankly they couldn’t be happier. Most are even married with children now. The bar scene is over rated when you can search for free online from the comfort of your own home. Why subject yourself to cheesy pickup line after cheesy pickup line? True.com offers free sign up and gives you access to thousands of singles just like you.

Although Dave and I met in person first through our mutual friend, we did a lot of corresponding online before we first started dating. I think it’s a lot easier to get to know someone over a period of time online than it is in a dark smokey bar. Online dating doesn’t really have the negative stigma it used to have about 10 years ago. I know several couples who are embarrassed to say they met online, and even their families do not know the truth. I also know several who think it’s wonderful and shout it from the roof tops for anyone to hear. To each their own.

Does anyone have any stories about finding love via True.com or any other online dating service? Did you have a positive or negative experience?

  1. I tried true exactly once. The guy sent me pics and such, looked nice seemed nice. We decide to meet after 2 weeks of talking by chat and phone. He shows up about 200 pounds heavier than the pics showed, about 8 years older and was so rude to a waiter, i was almost in tears. That ended that lol. Wasn’t so much that he was heavier and older, it was that if he would lie about the basics……what the heck else was he hiding?

  2. Hey Laurie,
I met my hubby online too, but not through a dating service. It was work related! We ‘chatted’ online for two months…then, funnily enough, we were both invited to a mutual friends’(we didn’t know it at the time) housewarming party, where we finally met in person! Two years later we married, we moved to the country, renovated our house and we’re still very much in love.

  3. Nessa– that completely makes sense. If a good relationship revolves around trust and he started off with lies, it probably wouldn’t last.
