RIP LeRoi Moore 1961-2008

I am of course a friend of Dave Matthews Band on MySpace (only my most favorite band/artist/group in the world), and was shocked to log into my account to see that saxophone player LeRoi Moore passed away yesterday due to complications from his ATV accident in June. Besides Dave’s voice, his sax solos were among my favorite parts of the show. I’ve seen the band live four or five times, and I know that next time I go it will not be the same.

| We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
We would like to take a moment at this sad time to thank everyone for the outpouring of condolences and notes celebrating LeRoi’s life. Thank you for the many inquiries we have received about making a gift in LeRoi’s name. A fund has been created in honor of LeRoi Moore in support of charities that reflect both his spirit and passion.
