Mid-Week Update

I know I haven’t been posting too much other than my usual memes. There hasn’t been a whole lot to say really. Dave and I have both been busy with work. I attended my 8th (?) IEX conference yesterday. It’s hard to believe I’ve been doing this kind of work for this long. I ran into my mentor who hired me at Verizon which was exciting. He is in Atlanta now. The days of working with him seen so long ago. I love using IEX and I learned so much at this year’s conference. I also got a ton of great ideas to bring back to my boss, and I feel a bit more motivated and inspired to try to help change things for the better. In July I will celebrate my 2nd anniversary here, so I want to be able to say that I’ve accomplished some good things. |
Nikki and I have been doing well with our workouts and training/fundraising for the 3-Day. It seems like we are always moving and doing something. Pretty soon our personal training sessions will end and I think life will slow down besides the parties that we are planning for the summer. Since January we have been going at a fast pace. I am looking forward to spending a little more time at home and getting it put together. I am always so tired and usually come home too late to feel motivated to decorate or make the house feel more like a home. I am hoping to spend more time doing that before the end of the year. We’ve got a few bills to pay off first, but then we’re going to pick out some new living room furniture and get a new TV. That room is still really sad and empty, but we’re not really trying to get into more debt to make it perfect. I’ve also been getting into yard work lately which is pretty funny considering this is me we’re talking about. I’ve been pumping heads with the people who we hired for weed control. If you are in the area– never use Integreen.
Back to the 3-Day since I promised an update over the weekend: Nikki & I lead our first training walk on Saturday. I was assigned Luke’s Locker as our starting/stopping point. We met two new participants who signed up for my walk, and we went 3 miles around the Shops at Legacy. Before and afterward she and I approached local restaurants and shops and asked if they would make prize donations for our wine tasting and casino night. The manager at Taco Diner offered $100 gift card, Sean David Salon also gave us a generous gift card, and Potbelly gave us a complementary sandwich tray. We also received several other “maybes” and got leads for some additional places to try. We feel really accomplished. We found the perfect spot to host our Wine Tasting, and are shooting for June 28. We’re working with the manager on specifics, but should know something soon. This Saturday we will be going to the Official Training Season Kick Off at New Balance in Dallas. Like I said, we are busy busy busy. Thanks again for all the support from my blogging friends as well as family and friends around the country. I cannot believe how wonderful the experience has been and we are not even halfway to November yet! I haven’t even blogged about this at Our3Day.com yet, but be sure to continue to visit for all the details on our upcoming events and to make donations. I have met the minimum required to walk, but still have a little way to go to make my personal goal. Every little bit helps. If you can donate $5, I would really appreciate it. Nikki also needs a lot of help to make her minimum, and I would love it if you would like to donate to her walk as well.
Tomorrow I’ll be working from home, and then Friday Nik and I took a half day to have a girl’s afternoon of shopping (hello, Coach!) and lunch. I’ll try to post again soon!
