Dallas 2008 Chihuahua Races

By Laurie | April 27, 2008

Saturday we spent the early morning/afternoon in Addison at the PETCO Chihuahua Races. We met my parents (who raced B. Jay and ChiQetta) and LeAnn & her family (who raced Ty). Tim and Jana also raced Issac. Luckily they were all in different “Packs,” but sadly none of them made it to the semi-finals this year. Ty is the racer in the family, but he came in third in his heat. It was a really close finish. LeAnn asked me to help her again this year since he’s afraid of me and we’ve had luck with that method the past two years. See below:

Le is in the blue t-shirt (second from the left). It was so close.

Brownie had the most interesting race heat– none of the dogs wanted to finish. Most of the dogs in Ty’s pack went straight for the finish line, but it took several minutes to get a winner in Brownie’s. Instead they sniffed butts, tried to hump, and Brownie even took a dump. Yup– that’s my boy.

My parents didn’t have much luck with their two either. Qetta went back to my mom, and B. Jay got scared by the announcer lady and wandered around.

B. Jay is just not sure which way to go…

There was also a spirit contest this year, though not too many people participated. LeAnn and Jana stayed up until midnight and made t-shirt for their family to support Ty & Isaac. They were really cute, and that earned them third place in the contest. Here are the rest of the winners:

1st Place: Team Sophie had kids… it’s hard to beat kids. Their shirts were really cute.

2nd Place: It’s a bird… it’s a plane… no, it’s super chi!

3rd Place: Team Worley!

We had a good time, and are super glad that they had the races (4th annual) in April this year verses June like they have had in past years. It wasn’t too hot which was great for the chis and their parents. We left around noon to head home and grab some lunch. We were all so tired when we got home that we took a nap together. It was a perfect ending to a great day.

Brownie will always be 1st Place in our hearts!

  1. That looks like a really fun day! I can’t believe it’s been a year since the last races because I can still remember reading about them! How time flies - especially at my age. :p
