Weather Damage

By Laurie | April 13, 2008

You may have heard about the bad thunderstorms and tornadoes in our area of DFW last week. Truth be told David and I both slept through it, sirens and all. Yes, seriously. We knew the wind was bad when we went to bed, but David even drove to work the next day not noticing anything. I saw street lights, power lines and trees down everywhere on my drive from Frisco to Plano. Most of the damage seemed to be in Plano, and traffic was bad for the rest of the week. Signal lights not working, detours etc. Our house was not impacted though.

My parents also made it through with no damage in Grapevine, but my brother and sister-in-law were not so lucky out in Hurst. I took a few pictures with my camera phone in Plano, but these photos they sent of their house definitely hit home (literally). HUGE trees were uprooted, hitting their roof, fence, shed and pond. They also lost power for most of the next day. My brother is leaving for Japan today, and poor Marie has to deal with all this on her own.

  1. WOW! That is bad and yet, it looks like it could have been even worse if that tree had fallen the other direction.

My daughter and I slept through that second storm too, I think we were exhausted from being awake all night the night before! My husband was out of town and missed the whole thing.
