The Ultimate Blog Party

By Laurie | March 7, 2008

I’ve seen the cute little invitation to The Ultimate Blog Party around the blogosphere the past month or so, but I wasn’t really sure what it was all about until today. It is a great way to introduce yourself to other bloggers, meet new friends, and have a good time. They (5 Minutes for Mom) are also giving away some fabulous prizes which is just a perk to all the fun. It is running March 7 (today) through March 14, so there is plenty of time to get involved. You don’t have to have a blog to participate either, so go check out the rules and enter!

For those new to La Vie de Laurie, I’m Laurie (duh!) I am a mom to one little chi puppy (Brownie) who is the light of our lives. Dave and I have been married for 3 years, and are enjoying our new house we built last year. I am hoping to start a family within the next few years. I just had my 30th birthday in January, but I’m not feeling the pressure quite yet. We (or I) would still like to take a trip to Paris and save a little bit more money before we venture into Parenthood, but it is definitely something that I want to do.

Ultimate Blog Party 2008
I’ve been blogging for over 5 years and love it. I was a journalism major in college, and this helps to keep me sane. I LOVE comments, so feel free to leave me some! I am also addicted to Paris and all things French. Did you notice my cute header graphic? I took four years of French in high school, and in college I took several more years. Before we go on our trip I need to brush up on the basics. My bedroom is cool– it’s black and white damask and eiffel tower stuff with silver accents. I told you, I’m addicted.

I am also addicted to Coach purses, Tiffany jewelry, Clinique makeup, Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrell, Old Navy, Gap and a bunch of other things. I am a shopaholic. I have more clothes, shoe and handbags than one person should have. I frequently make big trashbags full of it and donate them to charity.

This year my friend Nikki and I have signed up to participate in the Breast Cancer 3-Day, so we are spending all year fundraising and training for the event. I am very excited, and certainly have never taken on anything quite so physically challenging before. I think it is going to be a wonderful experience. We created a team blog at Our3Day.com and would love the support of some new friends. We still have to raise a lot of money, and I know that breast cancer has impacted the lives of many of you out there. I also know money is tight for a lot of people, but even a $5 would be awesome if you can do it. Even kind words of encouragement or stories about your loved ones touch me and inspire me, so don’t think I’m just begging for money.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to meeting and reading all of your blogs too. If you’re in the Dallas area, give me a shout in the comments too. We are always looking for new friends. We’re new to Frisco and do not know anyone here yet. Enjoy the other parties out there!

WIN A PRIZE: Want to win a Save the Ta-Tas tee? I love giving away free stuff almost as much as I love getting it! Leave me a comment on this post for one entry, link back to my blog and this post for five entries, and make a donation (ANY amount) to my 3-Day for twenty entries (even $1 will qualify you). If you do all 3, you’ll get 26 entries. The winner will be drawn on Saturday, March 15 and will be e-mailed for sizing info and a mailing address. Good Luck & Happy Partying!

The next time you donate a trashbag full of your Coach and Pottery Barn discards, would you consider sending it my way?! I have three kids. What that means is, I never get anything nice these days!

    Have fun at the party!

  5. Hi Laurie! thanks for stopping by for a visit. I love those t-shirts! Our very dear friend and neighbor, Aunt Polly, has recurring breast cancer, just returned in December, and it is Stage IV. It has metastasized and is now in her lungs, liver, and lymph nodes. She has no family in the area and so we are trying to help raise money for the insurance that she needs for her chemo treatments. Thank you so much for working on this project! You have a lovely blog . . . and when you are ready to start your family, if you ever consider international adoption, give me a shout out. I’m here to help :o ) Nina

Thanks for stopping by my blog party. You sound like you have a lot of fun stuff going on in your life right now. Good for you! I did the Breast Cancer 3 Day in 1999 and 2000 in Atlanta. It is an incredible experience. I HIGHLY recommend wrightsocks (wrightsocks.com) double layered socks to help prevent blisters. Good luck with your training and fundraising.

Five years?! Impressive! I’ve been on the blogging circuit for three years … but then you’ve already read about me, so on to more interesting topics! lol

That is so cool that you’re training for the Breast Cancer 3-day. That is so awesome that you’re dedicating your time to something SO worthy. Keep up the good work!

  31. I must say… I’m not really into purses and I failed French miserably in high school. BUT I love the t-shirt! My friend and co-teacher has this as a bumper sticker and I keep admiring it. I truly do wish society in general would just get over themselves with breasts and know it’s part of a fabulous package… all of my children loved them (though, this 2 year old more than the twins).

I tried to make a small donation to your 3 day for more entries, but for some reason it was giving me trouble, and wouldn’t allow me to make a donation of my choice. If you can figure out why and how to get around the problem, I’ll be glad to come back and make the donation. Just email me. Thanks for the giveaway though!

  102. Give me a heads up on where you’re donating the next trash bags! Sounds like I need to hit those stores… :-) I live in the across from Firewheel and love the area. If you haven’t been to the mall, check it out some day when the weather is nice.

You RAWK for joining the 3-day, I’ve always wanted to, but the minimum required donation has always scared me off. Good luck! And you should have another $5.00 in your fundraising from some gal named mattie that you’ve never heard of….

It’s just not the same with kids. can be better, I GUESS, but there’s something about traveling with just your man. that’s what i look forward to when thinking of my empty nest in like 45 million years.
