Thanksgiving Update

I’ve been seriously sick since Friday. I woke up at 5:00 AM to brave the Black Friday sales with my parents, but knew I wouldn’t be able to go considering how I felt. I sucks because that is one of my favorite days of the year– I love braving the crowds in hopes of finding a good sale. It just wasn’t in my cards. After hosting Thanksgiving for my parents and brother’s family, I was exhausted. It is amazing how sick I was literally over night. I didn’t leave the house all day Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Craziness.
I did go to work yesterday though, and felt better and glad to be out of the house. When I woke up this morning, I knew it was going to be another miserable day. My nose is stuffed up, and I am coughing and sneezing every few minutes. I feel guilty calling in, but at least I didn’t infect the rest of my team and luckily today was one of those day that I could afford to miss as far as my account goes. I spent the day sleeping, mostly. I burned a pot of soup (!) for lunch because it was on high and I turned my back for a minute. Doh! Hopefully I will be ready to go back tomorrow.

It was also my mom’s birthday on Thanksgiving this year, so my friend LeAnn made one of her gorgeous carrot cakes for the occassion. We had that along side traditional pumpkin pie for desert:
It was baby William’s first Thanksgiving, so I got him a little bib that said so. Here he is with Marie, David, and my dad (they got him a Tickle Me Elmo Extreme):
I hope everyone had a great holiday! It was fun (and a ton of work) to do, but hopefully next year we can enjoy it at someone else’s house. It’s kind of funny how everything is a blur when you are so busy cooking and cleaning.
Next, David’s family is coming for Christmas. I don’t think we have quite decided what we are doing for the big meal yet, but maybe we can order the meat from someone and just prepare sides… or even go out. We’ll see.
What a lovely job you did setting the table! And your dining set looks a lot like my mom’s and she puts a big old table cloth on it because she doesn’t want anyone to scratch the finish, so we never see it!

I have a table cloth waiting to be returned to Target, and placemats that are going back to Crate & Barrel. It was insane… especially considering it was all for a meal that lasted a little over an hour.
