Intervention?
By Laurie | November 6, 2007
| TIVO has made me a television junkie again. Instead of getting stuff done around the house, I find myself glued in front of the TV watching shows that I recorded.
I have gotten back into watching The Bold & the Beautiful, my childhood soap. It’s sad that I can still follow the show at all, but they seem to be repeating the same storylines over and over. |
Of course I have always watched The Hills, but now I can pause, rewind, and fast forward to the good parts. I made good use of the rewind button last night in order to hear Lauren diss Heidi in the preview for next week.
I’m even recording The Amazing Race, which is actually one of my favorite shows that I can just not remember to watch. They are in season 12 now, and there have been at least 5 or 6 since the last time I watched. I get completey emotional and rapped up in it too. I would definitely do it is I had the opportunity. Can you imagine traveling all over the world and getting to do all of those different things? I think it would be such a life-changing experience.
I’m also watching completely inaine shows like Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on CMT. Don’t ask me what is so fascinating about watching cheerleading tryouts, but everytime I surf by and it is on I cannot help myself. You know there must be heaps of drama when you get together a competition with this many pretty girls, but the show focuses on none of it what-so-ever. Still, it manages to suck me in.
So yeah… I need an intervention… and you’ve wondered where I’ve been lately! haha. Those shows are just the tip of the iceburg too. Hopefully I will find more time like tonight to pull myself away.

We got a DVR a few months ago and I have to agree that it is the best thing ever!! The only show Brendan and I watch is Heroes but we never can seem to get in front of the TV on Monday nights at 9. So, we record it and then usually on Sunday evening we sit down and watch it. The kids love it too! They love being able to pause their shows when they need to pry themselves away from the TV long enough to do something - like shower!
Brendan is all in to that cheerleader show too. Gee, I wonder why. ~rolls eyes~
He’s been a Dallas Cowboy fan since I’ve known him but I’ve always stuck by the thought that it never really was the team that he liked but the cheerleaders!!
Posted by: Jill on November 6th, 2007 at 10:58 pmI don’t know what I ever did without a DVR! My husband goes crazy when he’s watching something and both my son and I set the recorder for something different. Then the warning comes up that we can only record 2 things at once, but you have to watch one of them. It’s creating chaos in our home! LOL! Sue
Posted by: Sue on November 7th, 2007 at 12:15 pmWe have a DVR that completely hooked me on TV again. For some reason, I tend to feel “artsy fartsy” on Sundays, so I spend a half-hour looking around for educational or cultural shows to record during the week.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found any additional time to actually watch them, so I have close to 80 hours of such stuff backlogged on my DVR (and some of it downloaded from there to my PC).
I’m praying for a long, hard winter so I have a reason to catch up on my viewing.
Posted by: Kate on November 7th, 2007 at 4:20 pmIt is fun watching Lauren diss Heidi. I did feel kind of bad for Heidi this week, she did try to apoligize.
