Blog America Tour – Dallas

By Laurie | November 5, 2007

Happy Monday! After a busy day of work, I braved the hour long traffic on I75 to meet up with the Izea/PayPerPost Blog America Tour. Ted, Ashley and Travis were the guests of honor at the (BEAUTIFUL) home of Dallas Ad League President Sean Jackson, who will be speaking this weekend at PostieCon in Las Vegas.

I think this was the first stop on the tour in which they had an actual function planned that wasn’t centered around meeting Posties, so I have to admit it felt a little awkward to be crashing their gathering… by myself no less. I was hoping to meet some other local bloggers, but alas, I was the lone Dallas representative.

I didn’t get to preview Argus or spend too much time with the guys, but it was very cool to see Ted and Ashley mingling with the Dallas Advertising Elite. They are working hard to bring us more opportunities, which is really the most important and best thing for PPP and IZEA’s future.

I brought almost 100 cans of food, which they have been collecting to drop off at local food banks along their journey. I felt so bad for them because their Duragano was filled with so many cans and boxes of swag that they hardly had room for their luggage. They definitely seemed relieved when I offered to take what they had already collected to a local Food Bank myself, instead of giving them another load.

It didn’t seem appropriate to whip out my camera, so I didn’t get any pictures. We took some pics with their camea by the van, and they presented me with a box of IZEA and PPP swag (a very cool  mouse pad, koozie, bumper sticker, and “Sparky” button), plus one of the Travelodge bears (if you’ve been following their blog, you know what I mean). I was also presented with the iRobot Roomba 530, which is even more kick-ass than the one I already have because it comes with the homebase that the machine actually returns to when it finishes cleaning. And I thought my life had changed forever when I got the first one!

It was already dark when I left, so I didn’t even get a photo of the van or the cool sign that the DAL had made for them. I’m sure they will be posting that on their blog, plus Travis was there filming for RockStartup.com. They are driving all night to make it to New Mexico tomorrow to meet with two-time Blog Battle Royale winner, Courtney.

Happy Travels, guys! I hope you have a great rest of your trip and enjoy the PostieCon. I wish that I had been able to go, but there is always next year. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for IZEA and PPP!

  3. Awesome! I’m glad you were able to go or nobody from the Dallas area would have been there to meet them. I was in a meeting myself with 12 8 year olds, I couldn’t get away.

  4. That is an awesome post. I wish they had come up this way, I’d have a ton of canned goods for them. That Roomba was a great gift. Awesome swag bag. I saw the photo of you and the guys on the Izea blog and have been following the twitter posts.
