Furniture Shopping
By Laurie | September 22, 2007
I am in complete and total house mode now. Today we went to Arlington to have lunch at my favorite hole in the wall Italian restaurant, and I managed to talk Dave into doing a little furniture shopping afterward. We drove around and passed the typical places like Rooms to Go, The Room Store, Ashley, etc. I missed my turn, so I ended up pulling into Bassett since that’s one store we hadn’t been to yet.
We ended up loving the place. It was way more expensive than we wanted, but you can tell the quality is so much better than any of the other stores we had already been too. We felt like we would have been “settling” by purchasing furniture anywhere else. When we saw this store, we loved practically everything we saw.
We chose to create our own custom formal dining table, so it will be ready in 30 days. We were able to choose everything from the tabletop, legs, and chair style. We wanted all black to “match” the Crate & Barrel set I plan on getting for the kitchen.
| We are also getting the Park Lane Panel bed and two nightstands that have a silver hardware finish. They are going to match all my stuff perfectly. I wanted the matching armoir, but it was over $2000 and will have to remain on my WishList for awhile since everything else was crazy expensive as it was. I feel like we made a good purchase though, and these things will last a long time. The bedding (see photo) is also absolutely perfect, but it was over $500. They’ve got to be kidding on that one. I’ve found some similar things online though, so I am going to have no problem creating the perfect Parisian bedroom. I cannot wait to see what it looks like completed. |
We close on Tuesday, and still have a ton of work to do at the apartment. They estimate that the furniture will be ready in two weeks, but they have up to 30 days to deliver. We figure we can live off of what we have if we move in before it gets there. After this big purchase, it will be awhile before we’ll be thinking about new living room stuff or a TV. The refidgerator will be the last thing on our “must-buy” list.

Yeah Bassett is so nice. They really do have GREAT furniture! My parents bought their couch from there and it’s so nice.
