Blog Day 2007
By Laurie | August 31, 2007

Today, August 31, is BlogDay. You’re probably asking yourself, what the heck is BlogDay. Here’s a quick run-down on what it’s all about:
BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors.
With the goal in mind, on this day every blogger will post a recommendation of 5 new blogs. This way, all blog readers will find themselves leaping around and discovering new, previously unknown blogs.
I spent a little time this week reading and discovering some new blogs, so I wanted to share my Top 5 favorites. I hope that you will visit them, and hopefully discover some new reads of your own.
1. KarlBlog.com: I discovered Karl last week, strangely enough through one of my paid posting sites. I spent a lot of time reading through his past posts (months worth, by the way), and really felt inspired by his words. I suppose that is no surprise since he writes a motivational blog. He is truly someone I would love to hang out with, because he seems to have a really positive outlook on life. I found myself nodding, smiling, laughing, and most of all (deeply) thinking after reading almost every one of his posts. Two of my favorite features of his blog are RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Monday, and his Friday Factoid. He’s also cute and from the UK, but I swear that has nothing to do with my newly found blog love. I didn’t even know until I read his entire blog and then visited KarlMoore.com, his other website, and heard his voice greeting. It’s no wonder he’s on the radio. Seriously. Love him.
2. JustAGirlInTheWorld.com: Authored by talented graphic-designer and writer, Lisa Sabin-Wilson, Just A Girl in the World is her personal blog. Yes, it’s named from No Doubt lyrics in case you were wondering. I badly want her to redesign my blog. I love her work and have spent hours looking through her portfolio. She owns her own design business, and also webhosting company. Check out the themes she’s done for other bloggers, and I bet you will want one too. I am waiting to get on her waiting list. lol
3. RavensRoads.com: I discovered Linda’s blog during Blogathon 2007 when I enterd a contest to win a copy of her book, A Little Twist of Texas. And guess what? I actually won. I’ve been reading about her trip from California to Texas by motorcycle, and the various adventures that took place. I hope to be brave enough to venture off on a trip like that someday. Maybe I can do a moped journey through the French countryside and write about my experience? At any rate, Linda definitely leads an interesting life.
4. PostSecret.Blogspot.com: I know PostSecret isn’t new. I’ve known about it for a long time. Sometimes I won’t visit for a few months, and there will be a lot of new things to read through. Basically people send in postcards, and then they are posted to the blog. I think it’s pretty interesting what people send in. Some of them make me laugh, and some of them make me ill. I guess that’s the voyeur in me. Yes, I have often thought of sending one in… just to see if it gets posted. Have you?
5. ParisDailyPhoto: If you know me, you know one of my biggest dreams is to make it to Paris someday. I love this blog not only because there is a new photo of Paris posted daily, but also for the descriptions that go along with each one. Thanks to Eric, I get a little piece of Paris everyday. I absolutely cannot wait to have pictures of my own someday.
